HUNTER×HUNTER by Yoshihiro Togashi has reached a major milestone: the series’ cumulative circulation — including digital editions — has surpassed 100 million copies. The landmark was marked by the release of Volume 39, the latest compiled volume, on July 3.
Shibuya “Hunter Street” Campaign
To celebrate the achievement, a special campaign called 「渋谷HUNTER街」(Shibuya Hunter Gai) has been launched in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. More than 100 characters from the series are appearing as street advertisements across the area. Fans can participate in a collaborative character-hunting event running from June 29 at 9:00 a.m. through July 5 at 11:59 p.m.
Participants scan a QR code attached to each advertisement; the discovered character then appears on a list on the campaign’s dedicated website. For those unable to visit Shibuya in person, digital content featuring the found characters will be available for download through the same site.
Ahead of the campaign launch, a special livestream aired on June 28 at 6:00 p.m. via the YouTube “Jump Channel”, featuring Chairman Netero performing his signature 10,000 Serious Punches as a gesture of gratitude to fans.
Commemorative PV and Newspaper Ad
On July 3, alongside the volume release, a thank-you advertisement directed at readers will appear in the morning edition of the Asahi Shimbun. A commemorative PV celebrating the 100-million-copy milestone will also be published on the YouTube “Jump Channel” the same day.
340 Chapters Free on Jump+ and Zebrack
Shonen Jump+ and Zebrack are joining the celebration by making 340 chapters of HUNTER×HUNTER available to read for free on a limited-time, rolling basis — spanning from the Hunter Exam arc all the way through the Election/Alluka arc. The schedule is as follows:
- June 29 – July 4: Hunter Exam Arc (Ch. 001–038)
- July 2–7: Heaven’s Arena Arc (Ch. 039–065)
- July 5–10: Yorknew City Arc (Ch. 066–119)
