Volume 1 of 異能の姫は後宮の妖を祓う 平安陰陽奇譚 THE COMIC (The Gifted Princess Exorcises the Spirits of the Inner Palace: A Heian Onmyoji Tale — The Comic), drawn by Nishiki Akiko and based on the original novel by Fujiya, went on sale on June 15.
Story
Kaeko is the daughter of a Chunagon (middle counselor) who, despite her noble birth, is treated coldly by her father and lives a quiet, solitary life. One night she encounters Kamo no Toshinori, a handsome onmyoji (yin-yang sorcerer), who rescues her from an attacking spirit. He then reveals a shocking truth: Kaeko’s younger sister, Sakurako, has been placed under someone’s curse.
Determined to save her sister, Kaeko — who possesses a rare healing power — slips away from her family estate, disguises herself as a man, and poses as a student of onmyodo. As Toshinori’s apprentice, she sets out to unravel the mystery behind the curse haunting the imperial court.
Award-Winning Source Novel
The original novel won the Grand Prize in the Light Bungei category at the 10th Kakuyomu Contest, cementing its reputation before the manga adaptation was produced.
