The production team behind the television anime adaptation of Just Like Mona Lisa (Seibetsu “Mona Lisa” no Kimi e.), the manga by Tsumuji Yoshimura, released a teaser promotional video and announced the lead cast member and main staff on Saturday.
Cast & Staff
Chika Anzai stars as the protagonist Hinase. Kana Shundo (Apocalypse Hotel) is directing the series at studio SHAFT, with CyberAgent overseeing production.

The announcements were made during a stage panel at the ANImagic convention, held in Mannheim, Germany from July 31 to August 2.
Story
CyberAgent describes the manga’s premise as follows:
What if everyone were born genderless — who would you fall in love with? Hinase is the main character who continues to live genderless, while childhood friends Ritsu and Shiori have already made their choices. As classmates and the adults around them struggle and hesitate alongside them, the story is woven together. What choice will Hinase ultimately make?
About the Manga
Yoshimura launched the manga on Square Enix’s Gangan Online website in May 2018, concluding it with its 10th compiled volume in December 2022. The series has surpassed 1 million cumulative copies sold. Square Enix publishes the English edition digitally via Manga UP! Global and in print through Square Enix Manga & Books, with the 10th volume released on May 19. The manga is also available digitally on BookWalker.
