CyberAgent announced on Wednesday that it is producing a television anime adaptation of Just Like Mona Lisa (Seibetsu “Mona Lisa” no Kimi e.), the manga by Tsumuji Yoshimura. Studio SHAFT is on board as the animation studio for the project.
To mark the occasion, Yoshimura drew a special illustration celebrating the announcement.
Main Cast and First Trailer to Debut at ANImagic
According to the announcement, the series will have a dedicated stage panel at the ANImagic convention, held in Mannheim, Germany from July 31 to August 2. On August 1, the panel will unveil the anime’s main cast and its first trailer.
Story
What if everyone were born genderless — who would you fall in love with? Hinase, the protagonist, continues to live without choosing a gender, while childhood friends Ritsu and Shiori have already made their choices. What is “love”? What does it mean to have something you want to cherish above all else? Classmates and the adults around them all struggle and hesitate alongside them, weaving the story together. What choice will Hinase ultimately make?
About the Manga
Yoshimura launched the manga on Square Enix‘s Gangan Online website in May 2018, concluding it in December 2022 with its 10th compiled volume. The series has surpassed a cumulative 1 million copies sold.
Square Enix publishes the manga in English digitally via Manga UP! Global and in print through Square Enix Manga & Books, with the 10th and final volume released on May 19. The manga is also available digitally on BookWalker.
