The August issue of Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine has announced that Kensuke Nishida, the artist behind the manga Jagaan, will launch a brand-new series titled Yūsha Yukio (Hero Yukio). The first chapter is set to debut in the magazine’s next issue on August 19.
About the Story
Yūsha Yukio is a dark fantasy isekai series centered on the hero Yukio — a man who has been both the strongest hero and the luckiest person in the world since birth.
Nishida’s Previous Work
Nishida previously collaborated with writer Kaneshiro on the manga Jagaan, which ran in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits from February 2017 until its conclusion in November 2021. The series spans 14 compiled volumes. Abrams ComicArts’ Kana imprint is set to begin releasing the manga in English in September.
Nishida also wrote and drew I am a Hero in Nagasaki, a spinoff of Kengo Hanazawa’s I am a Hero manga.
Kaneshiro’s Other Works
Kaneshiro is also known for As the Gods Will (Kami-sama no Iu Toori) with artist Akeji Fujimura, and the ongoing Blue Lock with Yūsuke Nomura. Both Blue Lock and As the Gods Will: The Second Series are available in English through Kodansha Comics and K MANGA. Yen Press is publishing Kaneshiro and Akira Hiramoto’s Super Ball Girls in English.
