เรนโกกุ เคียวจูโร่ ชักดาบเพลิงสู้กับอสูรในรถไฟ Mugen Ressha จาก動畫 Kimetsu no Yaiba

The full-series rebroadcast of Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) continued on 18 October 2025 with Mugen Ressha-hen (Mugen Train Arc) Episode 2: “Deep Sleep.” The episode introduced a new opening sequence backed by LiSA’s “Akeboshi,” prompting fans to write that they were already in tears just from watching the OP.

About the Series

Based on the manga by Gotoge Koyoharu, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows Kamado Tanjiro, a boy whose family is slaughtered by demons. He joins the Kisatsutai (Demon Slayer Corps) in hopes of returning his demon-transformed sister Nezuko to human form. The manga’s 23-volume Jump Comics run has surpassed 220 million copies in circulation. The anime, produced by ufotable, launched in April 2019 with the Tanjiro Kamado Rissho-hen arc. The latest entry, the theatrical trilogy Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen-jo-hen (Infinity Castle Arc), opened its first chapter — “Chapter 1: Akaza Sairin” — in Japanese cinemas on 18 July 2025.

Umai! Umai! Umai! — Rengoku’s Grand Entrance

The episode sees Tanjiro board the Mugen Train alongside Agatsuma Zenitsu and Hashibira Inosuke to rendezvous with the Flame Hashira, Rengoku Kyojuro. Tanjiro figures the flamboyantly-haired Rengoku will be easy to find — and he is, located by following a chorus of enthusiastic “Umai! (Delicious!)” shouts as Rengoku ploughs through stack after stack of station bento boxes.

Fans were delighted: “He’s here — the Umai barrage!” “I love that they gave him even more ‘Umai’s than in the manga.” One viewer even noted hearing that children had started saying “Umai!” before meals because of Rengoku’s influence.

After introductions, Tanjiro relays the Kasugai Garasu’s message about the escalating Mugen Train incidents and tries to ask Rengoku about “Hinokami Kagura: Enbu” and his father. Rengoku’s reply is blunt: “Hmm. But I don’t know!” He immediately pivots to offering Tanjiro a place as his disciple, and upon learning Tanjiro wields a black blade — a colour he has never seen on a Hashira — declares, “I’ll train you myself. You have nothing to worry about!” Fans noted that while Rengoku is eccentric, his warmth and protectiveness are undeniable.

The Blade Strikes — Goosebumps Every Time

When Rengoku warns that a demon could appear at any moment, Zenitsu panics — and sure enough, a hulking demon materialises in the carriage. Rengoku steps forward and declares: “Should you bare your fangs at the innocent, this Rengoku’s crimson flame blade will burn you to the bone!” He then dispatches the demon in a single strike with Flame Breathing, First Form: Unknowing Fire (Shiranui).

Online reactions erupted: “Rengoku drawing his blade — let’s go!” “I’ve watched this fight scene so many times and I still get goosebumps every single time.” “Shiranui is insanely cool!!!!!”

Sensing another demon in a different car, Rengoku sprints over, scoops a male passenger up in a princess carry, and cleanly decapitates the demon with Flame Breathing, Second Form: Rising Scorching Sun (Nobori Enten). Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke are awestruck and immediately beg to become his disciples.

“Everyone, I’ll look after the lot of you!” “Rengoku no Aniki~! Aniki! Aniki!” The four fill the carriage with laughter, and fans online joined in: “Rengoku no Anikiiiii!” “So cool, so cool, so cool!”

Enmu’s Trap

Meanwhile, the train conductor reports to a grotesque creature — a detached wrist bearing a mouth — that he has punched the tickets and put the passengers to sleep as instructed. The wrist belongs to Enmu, Lower Moon One of the Twelve Kizuki. Enmu’s plan: send the four children into the heroes’ dreams to destroy their “spiritual cores” and kill them in their sleep. As Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Rengoku drift off in their seats, Enmu watches from the roof of the train, musing that dying while dreaming is a happy way to go.

Fans had mixed feelings about Enmu — “His instructions are so precise, honestly a great manager (lol)” alongside “His cruelty and malice are genuinely disturbing.” Several also praised the casting: “Kimetsu always uses voice actors so extravagantly.”

Inside his dream, Tanjiro is reunited with his mother, brothers, and sisters — the family he lost. Viewers responded with heartbreak: “Tanjiro’s dream is genuinely painful to watch” and “Seeing him happy with people he can never meet again makes waking up feel even crueller.”

Star-Studded Supporting Cast

The official Kimetsu no Yaiba account has been releasing cast comments to mark the rebroadcast each week. Three supporting voice actors from Episode 2 shared their thoughts:

  • Eguchi Takuya, who voices the young man who enters Tanjiro’s dream — known for Hikigaya Hachiman in Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. and Loid Forger in SPY×FAMILY — said: “Please enjoy the rebroadcast while feeling both the allure of Enmu and the fragility of the young men drawn into the dreams.”
  • Senbongi Sayaka, who voices the girl who enters Rengoku’s dream — known for Marcille in Dungeon Meshi and the lead Watanabe Sarasa in Kageki Shoujo!! — said: “Being cast as the girl who enters Rengoku-san’s dream is an unforgettable memory; so many people have come up to me to talk about that scene.”
  • Nakamura Sogo, who voices the passenger Rengoku carries in a princess carry — known for Miyagi Ryota in THE FIRST SLAM DUNK and Gagamaru Gin in Blue Lock — recalled: “Every time Hino-san (Rengoku’s voice actor) said ‘Umai!!’ during recording, the energy in the room was overwhelming — I’ll never forget it.”

Next Episode

Episode 2 ends with all four heroes fast asleep in Enmu’s trap — and the preview for Episode 3 shows them still slumbering. The full-series rebroadcast began on 5 April 2025, just ahead of the seventh anniversary of the anime’s original premiere on 6 April 2019. Episode 3: “If Only” airs next week. The Mugen Train rolls on.
