Volume 1 of Kon’yakusha ni Kiraware te Iru Yō nanode Hanarete Mitara, Naze ka Kōgi Saremashita (roughly, “It Seems My Fiancé Hates Me, So I Tried Keeping My Distance — But For Some Reason He Protested”), drawn by Kobato Neneko, went on sale on June 17. The manga is a comics adaptation of the original novel by Hanabana.
Story
The protagonist is Clarissa, a young woman with grey hair and red eyes. Her own fiancé has told her outright that she is “ugly,” and the high-society circles she moves in have taken to calling her “Ash Girl” as a term of mockery and contempt.
Long robbed of her self-confidence, Clarissa lives a subdued existence — until, at a party one evening, she crosses paths with a mysterious young man who catches her attention. Just days later, she receives an unexpected summons from Prince Lucas, the First Prince of the realm.
From there, the story unfolds as a Cinderella-style romance in which the girl who was always looked down upon finds herself showered with affection — a sweet fantasy love story sure to appeal to fans of the genre.
