About the Film

Cast Comments

Mizusawa Rintaro (Suzaki Toru)

“During volleyball practice we pushed each other hard — earning plenty of bruises as badges of honour. I wasn’t sure at first whether this counted as a real club activity, but both the training and the filming were genuinely tough. Every single member of the cast and crew approached this with total seriousness. I hope that energy reaches audiences in theatres, making them laugh and maybe even cry.”

Kageyama Yuka (Yumiki Arisa)

“Because the role is quite different from my real age, I tried not to overthink it and instead just openly received whatever my co-stars were giving me. The film is truly warm and positive, with plenty of moments that bring a tear to your eye. I also got to try a kind of bittersweet performance I don’t usually do, so I hope people pay attention to that too.”

Kimura Masaya / INI (Naruse Seitaro)

“There are so many scenes in this film that just feel completely surreal — I hope audiences enjoy pointing out all the absurdity as they watch (laughs). You’ll see a side of me you’d never see in real life. I’m even wearing shorts shorter than anything I’ve worn before, and there are scenes where I’m being really strict with Katori-san, someone I’ve looked up to since childhood — please look forward to those exchanges!”

Honda Miyu (Akai Kotone)

“This is my first time playing a club manager! I spent my student days completely immersed in figure skating as an athlete, so supporting the volleyball team from the sidelines was a whole new experience. On top of that, acting alongside Katori Shingo-san again for the first time in ten years had me nervous in the best possible way every single day.”

Sakaguchi Ryotaro (Kitayama Takumi)

“The whole tennis club cast really bonded. Personally, I studied footage of Djokovic and Sharapova to nail the strokes as realistically and coolly as possible (laughs). Please come to the cinema and ‘enjoy and fire it up’ on the big screen!”

Kurasawa Anna (Yashiki Riko)

“The set was always fun — I was sad when it ended. I think this film will resonate with current students and adults who look back fondly on their school days alike. Life is full of worries about family and the future, but I hope this film gives everyone a reason to laugh and look forward.”

Yamatoki Soma (Kakei Seiji)

“I had never played shogi before, so I was initially at a loss as to how an expert would move the pieces. Fortunately, a teacher on set guided me carefully and I think I pulled it off. Rather than ‘going to see a film,’ I’d love for people to come to the theatre in the spirit of dropping by to have fun.”

Naenano (Yuki)

“I’m not a gyaru in real life, but for this role I cranked up the energy and just had a blast. I thought of a close gyaru friend of mine to get the speech patterns and nuances right. The film is packed with scenes that will make you burst out laughing — I hope everyone comes to the theatre to enjoy the lively atmosphere Ashikawa-san and I created together.”

Ashikawa Yuzu (Kana)

“Acting alongside Naenano-san as fellow gyaru characters filled me with genuine joy from the inside out. The set was always bright and energetic, and I believe that warmth comes through on screen. I gave it everything I had, and I hope as many people as possible come to see it.”

Fujimoto Kodai (Sano Hayato)

“It was my first time ever going all-out at tennis! I practised many times before filming and I think it really showed on the day. Our tennis club in the film has a uniquely ‘self-interpreted’ style in the best possible way (laughs). I put my heart into every day of filming — please come and witness our finest moments on the big screen.”

Ozawa Ryushin (Kurokawa Ayumu)

“Everyone on set got along so well and the atmosphere was always homey and welcoming, which made the days fly by. In the film, the tennis club members and all the other characters each enjoy their own version of youth. I want audiences to leave the theatre feeling that youthful warmth in their hearts.”

Omasa Rin (Takebayashi Nobuyoshi)

“This film faces youth head-on — though you might find yourself wondering, ‘Wait, exactly who is living out their youth here?’ (laughs). That surreal quality is one of the biggest highlights. The story will resonate deeply with every member of the family, so please come and see it together.”
