A special bookstore fair is set to launch on June 18, 2026 to celebrate the simultaneous release of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto ～Maomao no Koukyuu Nazotoki Techou～ Volume 22 and COSMOS Volume 9. Customers who purchase either title at participating bookstores across Japan will receive a limited drawn-down collab illustration card.
The Collab Cards
The novelty item — sized to fit inside a smartphone case — comes in two distinct versions, each created by the artist of the other series:
- Card by Ryuhei Tamura (creator of COSMOS): features Maomao and Jinshi from Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, finished in a metallic style.
- Card by Minoji Kurata (manga artist of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto): features Rin and Mizumori from COSMOS, produced on a washi-textured paper stock.
Each card’s finish is designed to evoke the aesthetic of its source series, making them highly sought-after collectibles for fans of both titles.
About Kusuriya no Hitorigoto
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) is a light novel series written by Natsu Hyuuga with illustrations by Touko Shino, published under Imagica Infos’s Hero Bunko imprint. The story follows Maomao, a young apothecary-turned-food-taster who solves mysteries within the imperial rear palace. Two manga adaptations are currently in publication — one from Square Enix and one from Shogakukan. An anime television series Season 3 is scheduled for October, and the franchise’s first theatrical film is set for December.
About COSMOS
COSMOS is a manga by Ryuhei Tamura, serialized in Monthly Sunday GENE-X (Sunday GX) and the web manga platform Sunday Webry since 2023. The sci-fi human drama centers on an insurance company that specializes in extraterrestrial clients, and the series won the 71st Shogakukan Manga Award.
