The live-action film adaptation of One Dance (ワンダンス), based on the manga by Kahei serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon, has revealed four additional cast members alongside new character visuals and introductory videos for each role.
New Cast Additions
- Yamaguchi Kira (Girls2) as Miyao Megumi (On) — a charismatic dancer who leads TEAM ON, the crew that protagonist Kabo joins.
- RAN (MAZZEL) as Ijima Iori — a senior dancer who recognizes Kabo’s talent and encourages him to enter dance battles.
- TSUKKI (professional dancer) as Kabe (Kabeya Gaku) — the most fearsome rival in the dance battle circuit, known for acrobatic breakdance power moves and an aggressive fighting style.
- Takamatsu Aroha (超特急 / Chotokkyu) as Usen (Takumi Usen) — the leader of a highly skilled dance crew who stands in Kabo’s way at a major dance contest.
Story
The film follows Kabo (Kotani Hanaki), a young man with a stutter who has long suppressed his own feelings, until he encounters Wanda (Wanda Mitsuri), a girl who loses herself completely in dance without caring what anyone thinks. Their meeting sparks Kabo’s passion for dancing.
JO of &TEAM leads the film in his acting debut as Kabo, while Ikehata Anju plays Wanda.
Cast Comments
Yamaguchi Kira (as On)
I had such a strong desire to be part of this project from the very first audition, so when I found out I’d been cast, I was so happy I felt like I was dreaming. Reading the original manga, I found so much I could relate to in On’s passion for dance and her inner conflicts. I want to portray her growth carefully through both dance and acting. This film holds not just the coolness of dance, but also the warmth of human connection — I hope it gives someone the gentle push they need to take a step forward.
RAN (as Iori)
I was surprised when I first heard about this, since I’d already read the manga. I had some anxiety, but after speaking with the director and Karisuma Kantaro, I decided to give it everything I had. Since Iori’s main genre is House, I worked through the steps from scratch with the dance supervisor, then gradually blended in my own style to build a live-action version of Iori. I hope everyone can feel the power of dance and music through this film.
TSUKKI (as Kabe)
Hi, I’m TSUKKI. Appearing in a film was something I never imagined in my dancing career. When director Kusaba Naoya reached out to me, I was thrilled but also nervous about whether I could pull it off. But if I could share the dance I’ve devoted my life to with audiences around the world through this film, I knew I had to take the challenge. I even received acting coaching for the first time in my life — it was an irreplaceable experience.
Takamatsu Aroha (as Usen)
I’m Takamatsu Aroha, playing Usen. I’m truly honored to be part of such a wonderful work as One Dance. To portray Usen through hip-hop, I received guidance from Karisuma Kantaro and trained intensively with the dance supervisors. I hope viewers come away feeling just how amazing dance can be — and maybe even want to start dancing themselves.
