The production team behind the new Magic Knight Rayearth (魔法騎士レイアース) TV anime has released the synopsis and preview cuts for Episode 2, “The Beginning of the Legend” (伝説の始まり), set to air on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
A CLAMP Classic Returns After More Than 30 Years
Magic Knight Rayearth is one of the signature works of the celebrated creative collective CLAMP, originally serialized as a manga in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine. The series blends an epic fantasy world with compelling characters and enjoyed massive popularity both in Japan and internationally. More than 30 years after the original TV anime aired from 1994 to 1995, the story is receiving a brand-new anime adaptation directed by Miura Yui, with animation production by E&H production.
Story Overview
The story begins when three eighth-grade girls — Shidou Hikaru, Ryuuzaki Umi, and Houoji Fuu — are suddenly summoned to the alternate world of Cephiro during a school field trip to Tokyo Tower. There, they learn that Princess Emeraude, whose prayers have long sustained Cephiro’s peace, has been taken captive, plunging the world into crisis. Summoned by the princess herself, the three girls must rise to become the legendary Magic Knights and save both Emeraude and the world.

Accepting their mission, the three set off toward the “Forest of Silence” (沈黙の森), where a mysterious figure is said to be waiting for them. But close behind, Zagato’s pursuers are already closing in…
