Story

The anime is based on Endō’s Mahō Shōjo Ikusei Keikaku light novel series, set in a world where a social game called The Magical Girl Raising Project grants roughly one in tens of thousands of players the chance to become a real magical girl — gifted with extraordinary physical abilities and unique magical powers.

When the game’s administration announces that the number of magical girls in one district must be cut from 16 down to eight in order to address a surplus of magical energy, the girls begin competing to collect as much “magical candy” as possible. Before long, however, the rules take a dark turn, and what started as a competition spirals into a brutal, life-or-death struggle among the participants.

About the First Anime

The original 12-episode Magical Girl Raising Project anime premiered on the AT-X channel in Japan in October 2016, with Crunchyroll streaming the series simultaneously.
