The production committee behind the new Mahō no Princess Minky Momo Akogare no Yume e Magokoro no Duo OVA has issued an apology to fans and all parties involved in the production, announcing that the theatrical screening date has been pushed back. The committee stated it will announce the new opening date on the anime’s official website and social media as soon as it is confirmed. Fans who purchased advance tickets will still be able to use them on the rescheduled date.
Story
The new OVA is set in Diginarsa, the land of dreams and hopes, which sustains itself through dream energy. As humans gradually lose their dreams and hopes, that energy dwindles and the land faces the threat of disappearing entirely. As a last resort, the king of Diginarsa dispatches his three companions — Chamocha, Dettabook, and Pipirupi — to seek help from Minky Momo.
On her 12th birthday, a girl named Momo receives a smartphone as a gift. After encountering the king’s companions, she awakens as Minky Momo and resolves to save Diginarsa. As she steadily gathers dream energy, a mysterious app begins sweeping through the city — but the dreams children share on it are shallow, driven by nothing more than a desire for recognition and views. Momo begins to question the nature of everyone’s dreams.

First New Entry in 32 Years
The OVA marks the franchise’s first new release since Minky Momo in The Station of Your Memories in 1994 — a gap of 32 years. The original 1982–1983 television series spawned a follow-up TV series in 1991–1992 and several OVAs. William Winckler Productions released the original series as English-dubbed features on Amazon Instant Video in 2015, while Crunchyroll began streaming the original TV anime in January 2024.
