Manga Mavericks Books announced on Monday that it will bring Sen, the creator of the indie manga Horon of the Closed Country, to Anime NYC 2026. The publisher will host autograph sessions with the author as well as a dedicated panel on August 21 at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
About Horon of the Closed Country
Manga Mavericks Books publishes Horon of the Closed Country in English. The series is set in an ancient land concealed from foreign enemies by a powerful forest deity — but that protection comes at a price: sacrifices must be made.
As the story unfolds, the forest deity begins encroaching further into the human world, and only individuals with special abilities known as diviners can push it back. One child possesses diviner powers, yet their memories have been stolen, leaving behind only a chilling warning: “What the Forest Deity takes will never return.” Three unlikely companions, each having lost something precious, set out together to unravel the deity’s secrets — unaware that their losses, the deity’s growing presence, and the demand for sacrifices are all deeply intertwined.
Publication Details
The completed series spans four volumes, published by Manga Mavericks Books at A5 size (5.83″ × 8.27″). Volume 1 is currently available digitally, with a print edition scheduled for winter 2026.
