Japanese women’s fashion label MAYLA has announced the Rozen Maiden Iconic Skirt collection — two limited-edition skirts drawing directly from the wardrobe of beloved Rozen Maiden dolls Shinku and Suigintou.
About Rozen Maiden
Rozen Maiden is a gothic-fantasy manga by PEACH-PIT, serialized in Monthly Comic Birz from 2002 to 2007 before moving to Weekly Young Jump, where it concluded in 2014. The story follows seven living dolls — the “Rozen Maidens” — each partnered with a human Master, competing against one another to become “Alice,” the supreme maiden created by the legendary dollmaker Rozen.
The TV anime adaptation aired in three installments produced by Nomad: Season 1 (2004), Season 2 (2005), and a special episode (2006). Studio DEEN produced a new series in 2013. Sawashiro Miyuki voices Shinku, while Tanaka Rie voices Suigintou.
Shinku Iconic Skirt
Inspired by Shinku’s signature red ensemble, this fishtail skirt carries a classical, weighty silhouette. The waistline features a peplum-style panel reminiscent of a cape, crafted from lustrous Damask-patterned fabric. Layered frills and lace add volume and drama, evoking the image of rose petals and the refined presence of a high-class doll.
Suigintou Iconic Skirt
The Suigintou design leans into a Gothic aesthetic, balancing dark atmosphere with understated elegance. Its most distinctive detail is an embroidered inverted cross motif on the front V-shaped panel — a symbol closely associated with Suigintou. A large adjustable back bow and a corset-style lace-up closure complete the look.
