The new manga series Mizuchi no Hanayome wa Ai ni Oboreru (蛟の花嫁は愛に溺れる), drawn by Mazumo and based on an original story by CAndT, officially launched on the Mechacomic platform on July 10. Planning and production are handled by comico.

Synopsis

Migiwa lost her parents at the age of twelve and was taken in by the Kiryu family, a distinguished clan with the ability to use kekkai-jutsu — a form of barrier sorcery. As a daughter of a branch family, she was expected to share this gift, but once deemed talentless, she has been treated as less than a servant ever since.

Despite enduring this harsh treatment, Migiwa’s fate takes another turn when she is forced to marry Kairi, the head of the Kanzaki family — a clan long at odds with the Kiryus. Kairi is feared as a man who harbors the monstrous spirit Mizuchi within his body, and Migiwa steels herself for the worst. To her surprise, however, the people of the Kanzaki household welcome her with genuine warmth.

The series is described as a Japanese-style doreai (devoted-love) romance fantasy, following the blossoming relationship between the gentle-hearted Migiwa and the incomparably powerful Kairi.

Editor’s Comment

“This summer, how about a kimono-clad young man with eyes as cool and calm as a still sea — or perhaps one whose clinging obsession feels like the sticky humidity of a summer day? Migiwa, pure and dignified despite her cruel circumstances, and Kairi, the clan head who harbors the power of the Mizuchi, share shy embraces, longing kisses, and a mutual desire to protect each other. It’s a Japanese-style romance fantasy brimming with happiness — guaranteed to make your heart flutter! Please give it a read!”
