Fans of GeGeGe no Kitaro and the supernatural world of manga legend Mizuki Shigeru have something exciting to look forward to this summer. An immersive planetarium event titled Mizuki Shigeru no Yokai Natsumatsuri ~88 no Ayashii Seiza-tachi~ (“Mizuki Shigeru’s Yokai Summer Festival: 88 Mysterious Constellations”) has been announced for Konica Minolta Planetaria TOKYO in Yurakucho, running from July 17 to August 31, 2026.

Where Yokai Meet the Stars

The event fuses Mizuki Shigeru’s beloved yokai universe with the dome-spanning spectacle of a planetarium. All 88 official constellations will be reimagined as “yokai constellations” — eerie yet endearing creatures drawn in Mizuki’s distinctive style. A specially produced immersive film will draw visitors deep into the yokai world, and festival-style game stalls decorated with a yokai theme will add to the atmosphere.

Exclusive Merchandise — No Ticket Required

A range of event-limited original goods will be on sale at the venue, and no entry ticket is needed to purchase them. Highlights include:

  • Yokai Omikuji (Fortune Slips) — Yokai disguised as constellations deliver a personalised fortune message. 200 yen per draw (tax included).
  • Yokai Summer Festival Can Badges — Original badges featuring yokai drawn in constellation-line art. There are 8 designs distributed at random, so which yokai you get is a surprise.
  • Yokai Summer Festival Postcards — Special postcards evoking the festive mood of yokai gathered beneath a starry sky, perfect as souvenirs or collectibles.

Themed Food and Drinks

Festival food and drinks inspired by fan-favourite characters — Kitaro, Medama Oyaji, and Nezumi Otoko — will be sold in a dedicated space that is also accessible without an entry ticket. The menu includes:

  • Hibama Starry Bottle — A ramune-flavoured glowing bottle drink with blueberry “fireballs” floating inside, complete with an event-original tag.
  • Kitaro’s Donut — A donut styled after Kitaro’s iconic striped vest.
  • Nezumi Otoko’s Cheese Potato Skewer — A gooey melted-cheese potato skewer featuring an illustration of a leaping Nezumi Otoko.

Additional menu items are also planned. Guests may photograph their purchases alongside the photo panels in DOME1 (food and drinks may not be brought into DOME2).
