A special collaboration watch inspired by the ONE PIECE Shinkansen “Setouchi Blue” train has been announced, going on sale through the PREMICO Online Shop from 17 August 2026. The limited-edition timepiece commemorates the iconic crossover between the beloved anime franchise and the Sanyo Shinkansen line.
Background: ONE PIECE Meets the Sanyo Shinkansen
ONE PIECE, the manga by Eiichiro Oda, launched in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 34 on 22 July 1997. Volume 57, released in March 2010, set a Japanese publishing record with a first-print run of three million copies. The TV anime has aired on Fuji TV since 1999, and as of April 2026 is currently in the Elbaf Arc. The Netflix live-action adaptation has released two seasons, with Season 3 scheduled for 2027.
In spring 2025, to mark the 50th anniversary of the Sanyo Shinkansen’s full-line opening, the “ONE PIECE × Sanyo Shinkansen” project launched three specially decorated train sets. The first, “Setouchi Blue,” debuted on 12 April 2025, themed around “a journey to Setouchi.” Its ocean-blue exterior features designs of the Straw Hat Pirates and their Jolly Roger.
Watch Design Details
The “ONE PIECE Shinkansen Watch – Setouchi Blue Model” captures the spirit of the train in watch form. The dial features a blue gradient echoing the train’s exterior. A small seconds sub-dial displays the Straw Hat Pirates’ Jolly Roger, while the index at the 1 o’clock position is shaped like Luffy’s straw hat.
The hour and minute hands, along with a motif designed to evoke the train’s headlights, are coated with Lumibrite luminous paint for visibility in the dark. The chronograph seconds hand is a custom design featuring Luffy and an anchor. A gold-coloured index at the 10 o’clock position (50-minute mark) pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Sanyo Shinkansen.
