Fans of Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor EZY (機動警察パトレイバー EZY) can now taste a piece of the anime’s world: a Chinese-style retort curry modelled after the Shanghai-tei restaurant featured in File 2 is going on sale, limited to just 5,000 units.
A Recipe Faithfully Recreated
The curry was developed with the cooperation of Iwamoto Tadashi, chairman of the Japan Western Cuisine Association (一般社団法人日本洋食協会), and is said to be a complete recreation of the recipe left behind by the restaurant’s former owner, Sakimiya Hayao. The dish features pork, bamboo shoots, tianmianjiang (sweet bean paste), oyster sauce, and shiitake mushrooms, blending Chinese flavours into a distinctive curry. The packaging proudly declares it “the curry beloved by the members of Section 2’s Special Vehicles Unit.”

Bonus Rice and Illustration Cards
Launching alongside the curry is “Nousan 2-ka Mai” (農産二課米), a 1 kg bag of rice priced at 2,160 yen (tax included). Customers who purchase the curry and rice together as a set will receive a bonus illustration card drawn by original Patlabor creator Yuuki Masami. There are five card designs in total, distributed at random. Set orders will begin shipping from August 17 onwards.
