Warner Bros. Japan officially announced on Friday that the anime adaptation of Record of Ragnarok (Shūmatsu no Walküre), based on the manga by Shinya Umemura, Azychika, and Takumi Fukui, will return for a fourth season titled Record of Ragnarok IV. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer and logo reveal. Azychika also shared a commemorative illustration to mark the occasion.

Season 3 Synopsis

Warner Bros. Japan describes the third season as a continuation of the epic saga’s 13 one-on-one battles for humanity’s survival, pitting gods against humans from across the world. The season centers on the fateful seventh battle — the decisive clash to break the 3-3 tie between the gods and humanity — delivering intense, blood-soaked fights driven by fierce conviction on both sides.

  • Season 1: Premiered on Netflix in June 2021
  • Season 2, Part 1: Premiered on Netflix in January 2023
  • Season 2, Part 2 (Episodes 11–15): Premiered on Netflix in July 2023

About the Manga

The Shūmatsu no Walküre manga has been serialized in Comic Zenon magazine since November 2017. Umemura writes the story, Azychika illustrates, and Fukui handles storyboarding. In English, Viz Media publishes the series both digitally and in print, while Mangamo first announced its license in March 2022.

Spinoffs and Other Media

The franchise has spawned several spinoff manga, including Shūmatsu no Walküre Kitan: Jack the Ripper no Jikenbo (Record of Ragnarok Mystery – The Case Files of Jack the Ripper), Ryo Fu Hō Sen Hishōden (The Legend of Lu Bu Fengxiang The Flying General), and Shūmatsu no Walküre Kinden: Kamigami no Apocalypse (Record of Ragnarok Forbidden Tale: Apocalypse of the Gods), which launched in June 2024.

On the gaming front, the battle RPG smartphone game Record of Ragnarok: The Day of Judgment launched in April 2025.
