Kenta Ihara returns to write and supervise the series scripts, and Yuji Hosogoe returns as both character designer and chief animation director.

Mini-Anime

Following the format of the first season, a companion mini-anime titled “Yōjo Shenki 2” (The Saga of Tanya the Evil 2) will air immediately after each main episode on AT-X, then stream on the Kadokawa Anime Channel on YouTube every Thursday at midnight JST for two weeks. The mini-anime will also spotlight new members of the Salamander Kampfgruppe.

About the Series

The story follows Tanya Degurechaff, known as the Devil of the Rhine — one of the Empire’s most fearsome soldiers — who wages high-stakes aerial battles above blood-soaked trenches. Behind her young face, however, lies the soul of a ruthless ex-salaryman from modern Japan, reborn into a world at war and determined to survive by any means necessary.

Zen and Shinotsuki launched the novel series in 2013; Kadokawa published the 14th volume in September 2023. Chika Tōjō‘s manga adaptation has been running in Monthly Comp Ace since 2016, with the 35th volume due on August 25. The first anime season premiered in January 2017, followed by a theatrical film in February 2019. The second season was first announced in June 2021. Yen Press holds the English license for both the light novels and the manga.
