Story Synopsis

Katrina is the illegitimate daughter of a count and his maid, born into hardship and treated poorly by her stepmother and stepsister following her mother’s death. When her stepsister is ordered by the royal court to travel to the remote northern outskirts — to be disciplined under the watch of a prince rumored to be cruel and merciless — the countess sends Katrina in her place. Arriving in the frigid north gripped by fear, Katrina discovers that the so-called “ice-cold” prince is far kinder than the rumors suggested. Could love be waiting for her in this wintry land?

Background

Yakiimo originally published the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō web novel platform in July 2023. Kurokawa began adapting it into manga for Comic Spira, Funguild‘s isekai fantasy label, in January 2025. Funguild has noted that the light anime is an adaptation of the manga version rather than the original web novel. The manga’s third compiled volume was released on May 18, and the series has surpassed 1.5 million downloads. An English version of the manga is available through MangaPlaza.

The term “light anime” was coined by Dai Nippon Printing in 2022 to describe a production format that requires less time and lower costs than traditional animation.
