The TV anime Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! (生徒会にも穴はある！) has released its first main promotional video, packed with footage from the series. Alongside the PV, the production revealed additional staff members, a full synopsis, and confirmed that the opening theme will be “Kaze no Naka wa Hashirukkinai!” performed by Sangatsu no Phantasia (三月のパンタシア).
About the Series
Based on the manga by Muchimaro, serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, the student council love-comedy has become one of the most talked-about titles in recent years. It claimed 1st place in the Comics Division of the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho 2023 awards and has surpassed 2.7 million copies in cumulative circulation.
Synopsis
Fujinari Gakuen, a college-prep private school on the outskirts of town, is home to first-year high school student Mizunoe Ume. While he excels in Japanese literature — having won multiple literary awards — his science and math grades are so catastrophic that he risks being held back a year. To boost his academic standing and avoid repeating a grade, Ume joins the student council.
What he finds there is anything but ordinary: Kotobuki Juko, the charismatic but stone-faced student council president; Terui Arisu, the treasurer who looks intimidating but is secretly gentle and refined; Odori Tan, a cheeky yet adorable boy; and Mutsu Komaro, a tiny, stray-kitten-like general affairs officer. Together, this mismatched but endearing cast sets the stage for a chaotic, heartwarming student council romantic comedy.
Opening Theme — Sangatsu no Phantasia
Vocalist Mia described the new song as “an upbeat track brimming with the spirit of youth that makes you want to break into a run.” She reflected on the series’ characters, noting that “the student council members and others all seem to carry a certain difficulty with living in the world — struggling to express themselves, or having a sensitive, easily-overwhelmed heart.” She added that the song captures “the frustration and heartache of that, while singing about the positive determination to keep pushing forward and run headlong through life.”
Lyricist and composer Noko commented: “Every day is a string of trivial things and small incidents that fly by before you know it. I wrote this song with the feeling of sprinting through that slightly weird but precious everyday life. On the days when nothing goes right, I want people to listen and feel like, ‘Alright, I’ve just gotta run!'”
