The official website for the third television anime season of Shangri-La Frontier — based on Katarina‘s web novel series — released a new teaser promotional video on Tuesday. The announcement confirmed that the full voice cast from Season 2 will return to reprise their roles.
Season 3 Staff
Studio C2C continues production on the series. Toshiyuki Kubooka (Harukana Receive, Wandering Witch – The Journey of Elaina) serves as chief director, with Hiro Ōki — who served as an episode director on the previous season — stepping up as series director, and Naoki Kotani (episode director on Black Clover and Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal II) joining as assistant director.
Kazuyuki Fudeyasu returns to oversee and write the scripts, bringing his experience from Black Clover, Dropkick on My Devil!, Hetalia The Beautiful World, In the Land of Leadale, and Record of Ragnarok. Ayumi Kurashima (DEVILMAN crybaby, Megalobox 2: Nomad) is back as character designer and chief animation director, and MONACA returns to compose the score.

Premiere Details
Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on MBS, TBS, and 26 affiliated channels, airing on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. JST (3:00 a.m. EST).
Series Background
The first season launched in October 2023 across 28 MBS/TBS networks and ran for two consecutive cours. Season 2 followed in October 2024, also spanning two cours. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons simulcast with Japan; Season 2 additionally received an English dub.
The story follows Rakurō Hizutome, a second-year high school student obsessed with hunting down “shitty games” and conquering them. When he dives into the cutting-edge VR title Shangri-La Frontier, he does what he does best — min-maxes, skips the prologue, and charges straight into the action. But even a gamer of his caliber may find that Shangri-La Frontier holds secrets beyond anything he’s faced before.
Katarina originally launched the web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in May 2017. Ryōsuke Fuji‘s manga adaptation has been running in Weekly Shōnen Magazine since July 2020 and is published in English by Kodansha USA Publishing.
Upcoming Game
Fans also have the mobile game Shangri-La Frontier ~Nanatsu no Saikyō-shu~ (Shangri-La Frontier ~The Seven Colossi~) to look forward to. Developed by Netmarble Nexus, the franchise’s first game is slated to launch in 2026.
