TV anime Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru. Season 2 (The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2) has officially confirmed its premiere date: October 7, 2026. The announcement came alongside the release of the series’ third promotional video, which also previewed the opening and ending theme songs for the new season.
About the Series
Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru. is based on the light novel by Nigo Ju, which won the grand prize at the 15th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award, with character designs by Umibouzu (published by KADOKAWA / MF Bunko J). The first season aired from July to September 2021.
The story follows Kimizuka Kimihiko, a trouble-magnet teenager who once served as the assistant to Siesta, a self-proclaimed detective. After losing her, he tries to return to ordinary student life — until a new client appears and pulls him back into the fray.

The two newly announced cast members portray members of the Chorissha (調律者) faction. Komiyama Akari voices Mia Whitlock, known as the “Shrine Maiden,” while Okamoto Nobuhiko voices Scarlett, known as the “Vampire.”
Theme Songs
The third PV offered the first preview of the opening theme 「この心臓に花束を」 (Kono Shinzou ni Hanataba wo) performed by Kokoume, and the ending theme 「白昼夢」 (Hakuchumu) performed by Kaguranana.
Broadcast & Streaming Schedule
The series will air every Wednesday at 22:30 on TOKYO MX from October 7, 2026. It will also broadcast on BS Nippon TV (Wednesdays at 24:30) and AT-X (Wednesdays at 21:30, with reruns on Fridays at 9:30 and Tuesdays at 15:30).
On the streaming side, d Anime Store will carry the series ahead of broadcast, starting October 7 at 22:00 each Wednesday. Other platforms will follow from October 12, streaming new episodes every Monday at 22:00.
Ahead of the Season 2 premiere, AT-X will air a back-to-back marathon of Season 1 episodes 1–12 on October 3, 2026, from 9:00 to 15:00 — a perfect opportunity for newcomers and returning fans alike.
