The production team behind Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita II (転生したら剣でしたII — Reincarnated as a Sword II) has unveiled the synopsis and preview stills for Episode 1, titled “What’s Floating in the Sky Is an Island,” which is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
About the Series
Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita is based on the light novel series by Tanaka Yu, published under Micro Magazine’s GC Novels imprint, with cumulative sales exceeding 4 million copies. The first season aired from October to December 2022. Season 2 is animated by C2C under the direction of Ishidaira Shinji.
Story Overview
Fran, a young girl of the Black Cat tribe who was once enslaved under a figure known only as “Nameless,” encountered an intelligent weapon — a sentient sword known as Teacher (Shishou) — and became his wielder. Joining the adventurers’ guild in the fortress city of Alessa, Fran built her reputation quest by quest. Driven by her desire to achieve “Evolution,” the pinnacle of power for her kind, Teacher — ever the doting guardian — sets their next destination as the port town of Darz.
Along the way, the pair discovers a floating island drifting in the sky, where they encounter necromancer Jean Douby, who is determined to fully conquer it. Taking on his request, the three dive into the island’s dungeon — a treacherous labyrinth crawling with undead monsters. And so begins a brand-new adventure for the cat-eared girl and her overprotective sword.

Teacher and Fran are making their way toward the port town of Darz when they spot a floating island and move in for a closer look. They are promptly intercepted by skeleton knights and sent crashing to the ground — where they meet the necromancer Jean Douby for the first time.
