THE GUNDAM BASE SHIBUYA ร้านกันดั้มแห่งใหม่ในชิบูย่า PARCO โตเกียว

Gundam fans in Tokyo have a new destination to look forward to. THE GUNDAM BASE SHIBUYA is set to open on Friday, November 20, 2026, occupying the 5th floor of Shibuya PARCO. Admission is free.

A Franchise Over 45 Years in the Making

The Gundam franchise traces its roots back to 1979’s Mobile Suit Gundam and has since expanded across TV series, theatrical films, and OVAs for more than 45 years. Known for weaving mobile suit combat together with themes of war, politics, and human drama, the franchise also spans manga, novels, video games, and the beloved plastic model kits known as Gunpla, attracting fans across generations.

Tokyo’s Third Gundam Base, With a Shibuya Twist

The new store is the third Gundam Base location in Tokyo, joining THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO and THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO ANNEX, both in Koto Ward. What sets this store apart is its design philosophy: Shibuya’s street culture has been woven into every corner, creating an atmosphere unlike any previous Gundam Base location.

The store’s exterior features a large LED vision screen displaying exclusive 3D visuals that can only be seen here. Inside, walls adorned with graphics inspired by Gunpla packaging and a Gundam bust at the center of the floor add to the store’s distinctive character.

Original Video Art and Three Iconic Busts

The store’s atmosphere is further enhanced by original video content blending Gunpla with the streets of Shibuya in a vibrant pop style, with 3D diorama-style Gunpla visuals appearing between segments. Shoppers can also come face-to-face with three large busts — RX-78-2 Gundam, Strike Freedom Gundam, and Unicorn Gundam — displayed prominently on the shop floor.

Gunpla Packaging Reborn as Graphic Art

One of the store’s signature features is a series of graphic art pieces created by graphic designer Yoku Yokoyama (横山徳), who has “rebuilt” the original Gunpla box art into a Shibuya-concept graphic art series. The three source designs — originally created by Naochika Morishita (森下直親) — are:

  • HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam
  • HGCE 1/144 Strike Freedom Gundam
  • HGCE 1/144 Unicorn Gundam Destroy Mode

Opening Campaign: Free Stickers for the First 3,000 Customers

To celebrate the opening, customers who spend ¥5,000 or more (tax included) in a single transaction will receive an exclusive sticker designed by Yokoyama, available to the first 3,000 qualifying shoppers. A partial lineup of the inaugural SHIBUYA COLLECTION has also been revealed, with further items to be announced at a later date.

Entry Lottery for the Opening Period

To manage crowds and ensure visitor safety, the store will operate an advance entry lottery system during the opening period:

  • Restricted entry period: November 20–30, 2026 (all day)
  • Application window: November 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. — November 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Results announced: From November 16, 2026 onward

Winners must arrive at their designated time slot and cannot request changes. Each winning ticket admits only the ticket holder; however, customers requiring assistance may bring one accompanying person. Visitors are asked to arrive at the storefront 10 minutes before their scheduled time. Latecomers by more than 15 minutes will be moved to the next available slot. Full application details will be published on the official website.
