The ad takes a comedic look at Obon holiday traffic jams, framed as a mock news broadcast, with one very special twist that has anime fans in stitches.
One Voice Actress, Almost Every Voice
The CM poses the absurd question: “What if your ancestors got caught in the Obon rush-hour traffic?” It plays out as a mock traffic news report centered on shōryōuma (精霊馬) — the traditional spirit horses made from cucumbers and eggplants used to welcome and send off ancestral spirits during Obon.
The catch? Voice actress Faiirozu Ai provides virtually every sound in the video. That includes the news anchor, a wide cast of ancestors with wildly different personalities — the impatient one, the laid-back one, the one grumbling about the traffic — lines like “I’m heading home!” and “I just want to see my grandchildren already!”, and even the sound of the engine.
