A special collaboration edition of Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir — featuring cover artwork drawn by Koyama Chuya, the creator of manga series Uchuu Kyoudai (Space Brothers) — has been on sale in Japan since August.
A Milestone Celebration
The crossover was organized to mark Project Hail Mary‘s milestone of surpassing one million copies sold in Japan, bringing together two beloved works set against the backdrop of space exploration.
Newly Drawn Artwork
Koyama Chuya created original illustrations for the project, reimagining Space Brothers characters within the world of Project Hail Mary. The characters depicted include:
- Mutta — portrayed in the role of Project Hail Mary‘s protagonist Ryland Grace, or alternatively his alien companion Rocky
- Hibito and Apo — featured together in a separate illustration
The illustration of Mutta appears on the cover of Volume 1 (上巻), while the artwork featuring Hibito and Apo graces the cover of Volume 2 (下巻), making both volumes highly collectible items for fans of either series.
