The production team behind the TV anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) Season 3 has unveiled the subtitle, advance stills, and a preview video for Episode 49, which marks the opening of the series’ third season, first cour.
Episode 49: “Locust (蝗)”
Subtitled “Locust,” the episode picks up after the dust has settled from the rebellion of the Ne clan. Maomao, having been relieved of her poison-taster duties in the rear palace, has returned to her quiet life as an apothecary in the pleasure district. Meanwhile, Jinshi — now publicly acknowledged as the Emperor’s younger brother — has formally entered the world of politics, and is troubled by the ominous “portent of a national disaster” that Loulan entrusted to him as her final message.
One morning, the veteran madam of the Verdigris House serves Maomao and Zhao Yu braised locusts for breakfast. After taking a single bite, Zhao Yu says something that catches Maomao’s attention — setting the episode’s central mystery in motion.
