The 2nd Yamanashi Outdoor Matsuri Yuru Fes△, a festival celebrating the anime Yuru Camp△ (ゆるキャン△) and the outdoor lifestyle, was held over two days on 6–7 June 2026 at the “Yocchyabare Hiroba & History Park” plaza in front of JR Kofu Station’s north exit in Yamanashi Prefecture. Despite rain on the second day, the event drew a combined total of 13,000 visitors and concluded in high spirits.
About Yuru Camp△
Yuru Camp△ is an outdoor-themed anime following high school girls who go camping in the area around Yamanashi Prefecture. Based on the manga by Afro, the series has sold over 10 million copies in total. The TV anime first aired in 2018 and has since expanded to include a theatrical film. Yuru Camp△ SEASON 4 is currently scheduled to air in 2027.
Music Talk & Mini Live
Anime composer Tateyama Akito led a keyboard-violin-percussion ensemble through 11 acoustic arrangements of the series’ theme songs and background music each day. The intimate, atmospheric performances held the audience rapt. On day one, SEASON 4 director Tosaka Shin joined Tateyama on stage to discuss the music of the series and share updates on the new season’s progress.
The mini live closed with a special appearance by Tsumugishachi, vocalist of Kimi no Ne, who performed “Laid-back Journey” — the opening theme of Yuru Camp△ SEASON 3 — to enthusiastic hand-clapping from the crowd. The mascot character “Kigurin” (a costumed version of Rin) also appeared for the finale, sending the audience into a frenzy.
Cast Talk Show & Lantern-Lighting Ceremony
At 6:10 p.m. on 6 June, main cast members Hanamori Yumiri (voice of Nadeshiko Kagamihara) and Higashiyama Nao (voice of Shima Rin) took the stage to a rousing reception. Hanamori revealed she had arrived in Yamanashi the day before to explore the area, while Higashiyama surprised the audience by sharing that she had already tried wood-chopping and sampled food stalls before the show.
The biggest talking point was the confirmation that voice recording for Yuru Camp△ SEASON 4 is already underway. Both actresses spoke about the atmosphere in the recording booth and the feeling of returning to their roles after more than eight years since the series began. They also expressed enthusiasm about contributing menu ideas for future Yuru Fes events.
As night fell, the event transitioned into the lantern-lighting ceremony. Kigurin joined the crowd for a countdown, and when roughly 240 paper lanterns decorating the venue were lit simultaneously, the crowd erupted in cheers.
Bonfire Talk
Following the lantern ceremony, director Tosaka Shin sat around a real campfire set up on stage for a relaxed late-night talk. He spoke about his philosophy of “making the work with love,” sharing that he took up camping and even obtained a motorcycle licence to better understand the world of the series. He also teased highlights fans can look forward to in SEASON 4.
Staff Talk Show & SEASON 4 Production Secrets
On the afternoon of 7 June, around 300 dedicated fans stayed in the rain for the Staff Talk Show. Kuroda Yuuki, editor at publisher Houbunsha, thanked fans for supporting the manga through its 10th anniversary last year and pledged to “deliver the story to its conclusion” over the next decade — a statement that drew sustained applause.
The session included a segment titled “SEASON 4 — How Much Can We Say? The Limit-Break Talk,” which revealed several production details:
- Voice recording has been completed through episode 3, and overall production is progressing smoothly.
- Animation production for SEASON 4 is being handled in-house by Furyu Pictures, the company to which both producer Wada Kaoru and the director belong, enabling exceptionally close day-to-day communication between departments.
- Producer Wada expressed a desire to revive the notorious “Not-Relaxed-At-All Stamp Rally” — a past event remembered by fans for having stamp locations so far apart it was anything but laid-back, drawing knowing laughter from the crowd.
Outdoor Activities & Local Food
The outdoor activity zone, run with full support from Kofu outdoor shop Outing Products Elk, offered tin-can alcohol stove making, aroma candle crafting, a tent-pitching race, expert rope-work lessons (with ropes distributed to 100 audience members in front of the stage), and a marshmallow campfire session that filled its 30 spots almost instantly.
Food stalls showcased the best of Yamanashi cuisine: the famous Kikyo Shingen Mochi confection, local craft beer and wine, hoto (Yamanashi-style miso noodle soup), “Youth Tomato Yakisoba,” dishes featuring the Fujizakura Pork brand, and the menchi-katsu that appears in the anime itself.
