Jūbisō-gata Joshi Kōsei (重兵装型女子高生), an original work by popular illustrator neco built around the theme of “heavy weapons x high school girls,” has officially been confirmed for a TV anime adaptation scheduled to air in 2027.
The project is known in Japan and overseas through neco’s illustrations, which have been produced as multiple figures and have built a strong fanbase worldwide.

Visual and Special PV
Along with the anime announcement, the staff released a newly drawn visual by neco and a special teaser PV. The visual depicts Ichi (壱), a high school girl carrying multiple swords, which is one of the character’s signature traits. The teaser shows a mysterious girl gazing at a distant sky, as well as Ichi standing still with quiet dignity.

As an illustrator, nothing could make me happier than seeing my own work become an anime. I have tried to give everything I can to this project, and I am deeply grateful for everyone’s help in making it possible to announce this news today. From a single illustration to figures, and now to an anime – I hope everyone will look forward to it with excitement.
Masaki Tachibana (Director)
For this anime production, I spoke directly with neco to understand each character and incorporated his input into the development of the script. When we heard the voice acting for the first time, both neco and I discovered new dimensions of the characters together. Please look forward to the adventures of Ichi and her friends.
Natsuko Takahashi (Series Composition)
What drew me in from the beginning was the charm of the characters in neco’s illustrations. They carry heavy weapons that have weight both physically and in meaning, yet at the same time they remain perfectly “high school girls.” Intensive brainstorming with director Tachibana, neco, and the entire staff has given this work even greater depth. I hope everyone will see their bright smiles, even as they carry heavy weapons.
