The summer 2026 anime Rakudai Kenja no Gakuin Musou: Nidome no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Majutsushi Boukenroku has revealed the synopsis and preview cuts for its second episode, titled “Unfit Genius -Lost Technology-“, set to air on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.
About the Series
The anime is based on the manga serialized in Square Enix’s “Manga UP!” magazine, with an original story by Arata Shiraishi, art by Kentaro, and original character designs by Sakana Denim. The series has surpassed a cumulative 1.8 million copies in circulation.
The story follows Eftal, a great sage who devoted his life to the study of magic, only to meet his end in despair upon reaching the limits of his talent. Four hundred years later, he is reborn a second time — carrying the knowledge and magic of his past life — into a world where magical civilization has fallen into decline. Together with Anastasia, a young slave girl, and Merlin, the dean of a prestigious academy who was once his own student, Eftal sets out to dominate the world of magic once more.
The series is directed by Hisashi Ishii, known for quality productions such as Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear and Yuusha, Yamemasu. Animation production is handled by EMT Squared, a studio with a long-standing partnership with director Ishii.

Three years after his second reincarnation, a seven-year-old Eftal comes to understand that he now lives in a world 400 years removed from his own time. Supported by his mother Ilia and his half-brother Frazer, he nonetheless finds the path to a magic academy closed to him due to his lack of magical aptitude, and is instead encouraged to enroll in a military academy.
Refusing to give up on magic, Eftal effortlessly reproduces one of Frazer’s spells on the spot. Impressed, Frazer brings in a special coach — a large, imposing man named Moria…
