The theatrical anime Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor EZY (機動警察パトレイバー EZY) has officially dated its third installment: File 3 will open in Japanese cinemas on March 5, 2027. Alongside the date announcement, the production released the first key visual and a teaser trailer. All of this was revealed during a special broadcast aired on August 10 — celebrated by fans as “Pato Day” (パトの日).
First Visual and Teaser
The File 3 key visual depicts an Ingram unit standing alone in a dimly lit, tunnel-like space, evoking a tense and mysterious atmosphere. The teaser trailer introduces a major new keyword: the “Araragi Plan” (アララギ計画), a large-scale project focused on improving underground infrastructure across Tokyo, positioned as the successor to the “Babylon Project.” In File 3, this plan becomes the catalyst for a new threat that descends upon the Special Vehicles Section 2 (特車二課).
New Characters and Cast
Two new characters and their voice actors have been confirmed for File 3:
- Kaoru Mitarai (御手洗薫) — Pilot of the 1st Platoon’s Sentinel Unit No. 1 under the Metropolitan Police Department’s Special Vehicles Section 2. She possesses an exceptionally strong sense of justice and outstanding piloting skills. Voiced by Kaori Nazuka (名塚佳織).
- Takuya Niiro (新納拓哉) — Commander of the same unit, known for carrying out missions with precise and reliable leadership. Voiced by Taku Yashiro (八代拓).
Details on the AV-17 Sentinel, the Labor operated by the 1st Platoon, were also disclosed. In service since 2017, the AV-17 excels in mobility and can share general-purpose equipment with the Ingram, including a riot shield.
Movie Ticket and Blu-ray
Pre-sale movie tickets (ムビチケ) for File 3 go on sale August 14, featuring artwork of Mitarai and Niiro with the AV-17 Sentinel behind them. The design is made to be displayed alongside the File 1 and File 2 tickets. A clear file featuring the first key visual is included as a bonus.
A limited-edition Blu-ray for File 3 is scheduled for release on March 12, 2027, with advance sales at theaters beginning on the opening day of March 5. The package will include a bonus disc: Kidou Keisatsu Patlabor EZY Original Soundtrack Vol. 2.
