With the TV anime Ghost in the Shell: THE GHOST IN THE SHELL having aired its final episode on September 8 and now streaming on Prime Video, Amazon has marked the occasion by launching a fresh wave of limited exclusive designs on its print-on-demand service, Amazon Merch on Demand, covering official apparel and goods for the series.
A Cyberpunk Legend Decades in the Making
Ghost in the Shell is a landmark cyberpunk science-fiction franchise set in a near future where advanced information networks and cyborg technology allow people to connect their brains directly to the digital world. The story follows the exploits of a special forces unit led by Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg, as they combat cybercrime in its many forms.
The franchise traces its roots to 1989, when Shirow Masamune first published the original manga in Young Magazine Zoukan Kaizokuban. Since then it has expanded into animated films directed by Mamoru Oshii, multiple anime series, and a Hollywood live-action film, continuing to captivate audiences around the world.
Four New Amazon-Exclusive Designs
The first wave of new designs comprises four entries: “Opening”, “Jumping Fuchikoma”, “Motoko2”, and “All Character”. The lineup features visuals of the full Public Security Section 9 team assembled together, as well as protagonist Motoko and the AI-equipped think-tank Fuchikoma — essential picks for any fan of the series. Additional designs are planned for future release.
