Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM is set to make its presence felt at the Aomori Nebuta Festival (青森ねぶた祭), running August 2–7 in Aomori, Japan, under the banner “Gundam SEED Nebuta.”

First Entry in the “Gundam Festival Project”

The participation is the inaugural entry in the “Gundam Matsuri Project (ガンダムお祭りプロジェクト)”, an initiative that pairs the Gundam IP with beloved regional festivals across Japan to help spotlight local culture and foster community ties.

Mighty Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice Nebuta Floats

During the festival, a mae-nebuta (前ねぶた) — a smaller lead float — themed around Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam and Infinite Justice Gundam Type-II will be paraded through the streets. The preliminary sketches for the float were drawn by artist Hiroa Fukushi (福士裕朗).

Special Key Visual: The Gang in Haneto Outfits

A newly drawn event key visual has also been unveiled, depicting Kira Yamato, Lacus Clyne, Athrun Zala, and Cagalli Yula Athha dressed in haneto (跳人) costumes — the traditional dancer attire worn by festival participants. Fans attending the event will be able to receive commemorative fans (uchiwa) featuring the key visual design.

Local Product Collaborations and Pop-Up Shop

Collaboration merchandise with two iconic Aomori local products — “Igirisu Toast (イギリストースト)” and “Polo Chocolat (ポロショコラ)” — will also go on sale during the event period.

Additionally, a pop-up shop will be open from July 18 through August 30 at a special venue inside the Higashi Ohnichisinmachi Building New’s Hall Foyer (東奥日報新町ビル New’sホール ホワイエ) in Aomori.
