ภาพปกเพลง Ningen Shikkaku ของ DOES วาดโดยฮารุกาวะ35 ในสไตล์โมโนโครม

Harukawa35, the manga artist behind Bungou Stray Dogs (文豪ストレイドッグス), has drawn an original cover illustration for rock band DOES‘s new single “Ningen Shikkaku” (人間失格), due for digital release on September 6. The track marks DOES’s first new song in roughly two years.

A Song Inspired by Literary Classic

Bungou Stray Dogs is a series in which characters bear the names of celebrated literary figures — including Osamu Dazai — and wield supernatural abilities inspired by those authors’ works and pen names. DOES’s “Ningen Shikkaku” takes its inspiration from Dazai’s iconic novel of the same name, crafting a message for people in an era of overwhelming choices who continue to ask themselves, “Who am I?”

The collaboration came about because Harukawa35 felt a deep personal connection to the song’s themes and world. The resulting jacket artwork depicts all three DOES members rendered in a monochrome style, evoking a calm, intimate atmosphere.

Comment from Harukawa35

“Congratulations on your 20th debut anniversary. Despite the weight of the title and the words scattered throughout the lyrics, I felt this was an upbeat and genuinely positive song. I’m truly honored to have been involved with it. I drew the illustration with the image of a relaxed space where people chat happily together. My own life has had plenty of moments of regret and embarrassment, but I’ll keep doing my best.”
