The official website for the Horror Collector (Kyōfu Collector) television anime, based on Midori Satō‘s novel series, has released a new teaser trailer and main visual. The video confirms the anime’s full cast, production staff, and an October 10 premiere date on NHK at 11:45 p.m., with a run of 12 episodes.
The teaser also previews the opening theme song, titled “Kagebōshi” (Silhouette), performed by Shikao Suga, who will also perform the as-yet-untitled ending theme.

Story
The internet is filled with creepypastas, cryptid sightings, paranormal tales, and unsolved disappearances — mostly rumors and online pranks. But for the unlucky few, some legends turn out to be terrifyingly real. Those unfortunate souls may find their fate changed if they cross paths with a mysterious boy in a red hood, who wanders from town to town and appears wherever strange events unfold. Is he a beacon of hope in the darkness, or living proof that monsters are all too real?
About the Source Material
The novels are written by Midori Satō, supervised by Norio Tsuruta, with illustrations by Yon. Kadokawa has been publishing the series since June 2015, with the 28th volume released on May 13. A manga adaptation by Niko Yuki ran in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Gene in 2021–2022 and was collected into a single volume in March 2022.
Yen Press publishes both the novels and the manga adaptation in English under its JY for Kids middle-grade imprint, releasing the sixth novel volume and the manga volume in May 2025.
