MAPPA’s 15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal livestream, held on Friday, debuted the first teaser video for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4: The Culling Game Part 2, the fourth television season of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime. The clip confirms the project is in production, though no release window has been announced.

New Director Steps Up

The event also announced that Takeru Satō, who served as assistant director on the third season, will take over as director for Season 4.

Season 3 Recap

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 1 premiered on January 8 with a one-hour special featuring its first two episodes on the Super Animeism TURBO block on MBS, TBS, and affiliated channels. The 12th and final episode aired as an extended 27-minute installment on March 26. Crunchyroll is streaming the season worldwide, excluding Asia.

Season 3 was directed by Shōta Goshozono (JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie, Ranking of Kings) at MAPPA. Hiroshi Seko (Ajin, DAN DA DAN) handled series composition, while Yosuke Yajima and Hiromi Niwa — previously animation directors — returned as character designers. Yoshimasa Terui (Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, Hi Score Girl) composed the season’s music.

Franchise History

The first Jujutsu Kaisen TV anime premiered in October 2020 and ran for 24 episodes. The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film opened in Japan in December 2021 and arrived in the U.S. and Canada with subtitles and an English dub in March 2022; it also received revival screenings in five Japanese cities on October 24. Season 2 began airing in July 2023 on MBS, TBS, and 28 affiliated channels, with Crunchyroll streaming it simultaneously alongside an English dub. The season ran for two consecutive cours, adapting the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death arc (July–August 2023) and the 18-episode Shibuya Incident arc.

On the film front, JUJUTSU KAISEN: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie opened in Japan in May 2025, debuting at #4 at the box office, while the compilation film Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution opened simultaneously in IMAX and regular theaters on November 7.

The original manga by Gege Akutami launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018 and concluded in September 2024. Viz Media publishes the manga digitally and in print outside Japan, and Shueisha also offers it digitally via its MANGA Plus service.
