Veteran anime fans have reason to be excited: 魔法のプリンセス ミンキーモモ 憧れの夢へ まごころの二重奏（デュオ） (Magical Princess Minky Momo: Towards the Dream of Longing, Duet of Sincere Hearts), a new OVA after more than 32 years, has officially announced its theatrical release in Japan. It will open at Shinjuku Wald 9 and other theaters nationwide on November 13, 2026.
A Special Birthday Message for Minky Momo
For Minky Momo’s birthday on May 30, Kunihiko Yuyama (湯山邦彦), chief director of the previous series, shared an illustration and a heartfelt message:
「ミンキーモモは忘れた頃にやってくる……みんなの夢と希望が消えかけたときに」
— “Minky Momo returns when everyone has almost forgotten her… when everyone’s dreams and hopes are about to fade away.”
Story Synopsis
This story follows the kingdom of Deginarsa (デジナーサ), which is facing a major crisis. As people lose their dreams and hopes, the “energy of dreams” decreases, putting the kingdom at risk of vanishing. Minky Momo must set out once again and fight to save her homeland.
Fan Art Event for Fans
The staff is also inviting fans to take part in a Fan Art event. Selected works will be printed in the theater program book. To participate:
