The theatrical anime film Takopi’s Original Sin -Arigatou, Mata Ashita- (タコピーの原罪 -ありがとう、また明日-) has officially set its release date as November 27, 2026, opening at Shinjuku Wald 9 and other cinemas across Japan. The announcement was accompanied by a newly released special promotional video.
From Manga to the Big Screen
Takopi’s Original Sin is based on the manga by Taizan 5, which ran in Shonen Jump+ from December 2021 to March 2022. The story follows Takopi, an alien from the “Happy Star” who descends to Earth to spread happiness, and his encounter with a human girl named Shizuka — a tale that blends warmth with emotional weight.
A six-episode streaming anime adaptation was released in June 2025. The upcoming film will re-edit all six episodes for theatrical presentation and add brand-new scenes not seen in the original streaming version.
A Charming New Promo Video
The newly released video playfully echoes the tone of the source material. In it, Takopi enthusiastically declares, “This time, I’m going to turn this anime into a movie-ppy!” to which Shizuka replies, “The ‘ppy’ in Takopi — that’s the P in Producer, isn’t it?” The production team also announced that a “Taco-P (Producer)” project will be launched in the near future off the back of this exchange.
