โลโก้ GoHands สตูดิโอแอนิเมชันที่ U-NEXT Holdings เตรียมเข้าซื้อกิจการ

U-NEXT Holdings has announced plans to acquire anime studio GoHands and make it a wholly owned subsidiary. The goal is to leverage the production capabilities of GoHands alongside the strengths of U-NEXT’s leading streaming platform in Japan.

Business Acquisition Objectives

U-NEXT Holdings stated that this acquisition will help reduce production costs, improve efficiency and quality of output through digital technology, and open new opportunities for the studio to produce anime based on its own intellectual property (IP) directly — creating long-term added value for the group.

About GoHands

GoHands was founded in Osaka in August 2008, with Ringou Kichimoto serving as managing director. The studio is known for a number of anime productions, including:

  • K
  • Hand Shakers
  • Momentary Lily

In 2021, GoHands was commissioned to produce an anime adaptation of CLAMP’s manga Tokyo Babylon, but the production committee cancelled the project after a controversy erupted over alleged costume design plagiarism. Following that, GoHands filed a lawsuit against music label King Records over unpaid fees arising from the incident.

About U-NEXT Holdings

U-NEXT Holdings was established in February 2009 as the holding company for the streaming service GyaO! NEXT, which was later rebranded as U-NEXT. The platform describes itself as Japan’s largest streaming service, with Yasuhide Uno serving as president and CEO.
