The special exhibition 「妖怪学校の先生はじめました!ミュージアム」 (Yokai Gakkou no Sensei Hajimemashita! Museum) of the manga by Tanaka Mai has officially opened its doors to fans on May 22, 2026 at Yurakucho Marui in Tokyo. The event received an overwhelming response from fans, prompting organizers to extend the venue’s operating hours in Tokyo by one more week before closing on June 7, 2026.
Exhibition Highlights
At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a welcome message from Tanaka Mai, along with original illustrations drawn specifically for this event. From there, the exhibition guides everyone through the story’s narrative via large panels covering everything from “Aobe Seme’s sports day at Yokai Academy” to “The near-death incident that happened in a certain town,” together with character panels of Abe no Seimei and friends.
Across from the manga panels, there is a special corner for comparison — placing rough sketches (nemu) side by side with finished pages, accompanied by commentary from the author herself, before continuing into a colorful gallery of vibrant sequential art. A photo spot (photospot) with a mini character standee is also available for visitors to snap and share photos. In addition, there is a display area of “hard-to-obtain media” that true fans won’t want to miss.
Merchandise and Items at the Event
After passing through the exhibition zone, visitors will find a merchandise area offering a wide variety of items, including acrylic standees of hole-stamp mini character design, a mascot “Marumasu Cotto,” clear files, and much more. There are also genuine autographed books by Tanaka Mai on display inside the event’s showcase as well.
