The TV anime 『鎧真伝サムライトルーパー』 (Yoroi Shinden Samurai Troopers) officially announced that its second cour will begin airing and streaming on July 7, 2026. The announcement also revealed the main PV, a seasonal visual, character designs from the “Tendokai” realm, additional cast members, and new theme songs.

Origins and Background of the Series

The original 『鎧伝サムライトルーパー』 was a Sunrise-produced TV anime that aired from April 1988 to March 1989. It told the story of five young men who possess “Yoroi Gear” and are brought together by fate to fight the “Yojya” army of Emperor Arago. In addition to the TV anime, the franchise also received three OVA entries: 外伝 (1989), 輝煌帝伝説 (1989-1990), and MESSAGE (1991), as well as a manga by Ryuichi Hoshino in Comic Bonbon.

The direct sequel Yoroi Shinden Samurai Troopers presents a completely original story set in modern-day Shinjuku. It is directed by Yoichi Fujita, known for Gintama and Osomatsu-san, and produced by SUNRISE Studios under Bandai Namco Filmworks. The first cour began airing on January 6, 2026, and sparked buzz on X (formerly Twitter) from its first episode.

Second Cour Visual and Story

The newly revealed visual shows the four Samurai Troopers – Kaito, Musashi, Yamato, and Shion – standing proudly in armor, with Yashimano Sakume of Tendokai watching mysteriously from behind.

The story takes place three months after the Troopers defeated Rajinga and were separated from Kai. The Samurai Troopers head to Yojakai to protect the human world and must face the Ten Warriors once again. They will also confront a new threat from the Tendokai realm and meet an unexpected person. The released main PV has already raised excitement among fans.

Additional Cast and Tendokai Characters

In addition to Tendokai characters who appeared in the first cour, including Yashimano Sakume (voiced by Maaya Sakamoto) and Inmei (voiced by Takehito Koyasu), the second cour adds three new characters:

• Gomei – voiced by Tomoaki Maeno (前野智昭)
• Shimei – voiced by Aya Endo (遠藤綾)
• Gaimei – voiced by Hiroshi Shirokuma (白熊寛嗣)

All three characters make their first appearance in the second cour’s main PV.

Aya Endo (Shimei): “I play Shimei, a woman with a snake wrapped around her body. Our side has something it wants to protect as well. Please support us!”

Hiroshi Shirokuma (Gaimei): “I play a character who tries to show strength but is overlooked by his juniors, the only older brother being looked down on. It was a lot of fun.”

Second Cour Theme Songs

The second cour opening theme is 「BAD遺伝子」 by Dannie May, while the ending theme is 「ばけもん」 by カラノア (Karanoa).

Dannie May: “We turned teenage frustration into a song, adding maximum aggression along with a little love and vulnerability. I hope many people hear it.”

Karanoa: “I wrote the song from the perspective of how I would feel if I were a Samurai Trooper. They live in an unbelievably harsh world, and I wanted to express their courage and pain.”

Broadcast Information

The second cour begins airing on July 7, 2026 on the following channels:

• TOKYO MX – Tuesdays at 11:30 p.m.
• Kansai TV – Tuesdays at 1:19 a.m.
• BS-11 – Wednesdays at 12:00 a.m.

Streaming will be available on U-NEXT, Anime Hodai, and d Anime Store every Tuesday at 12:00 a.m. Schedules may change.
