The production team behind the summer 2026 anime Buchikire Reijou wa Fukushuu wo Chikaimashita. ~Madousho no Chikara de Sokoku wo Tatakitsubushimasu~ (The Furious Lady Vowed Revenge. ~I’ll Crush My Homeland with the Power of the Grimoire~) has released the synopsis and preview stills for Episode 1, titled “A Vow of Despair and Revenge”, ahead of its premiere on Monday, July 6, 2026.
About the Series
The anime is based on the light novel by Hagure Metabo, published under Hobby Japan’s HJ Novels imprint. The original work won the HJ Novel Award 2021 (First Half) and has also been adapted into a manga drawn by Oono Imo, serialized in Comic Fire under HJ Comics. The story is a satisfying revenge fantasy about a brilliant noblewoman who turns the tables on those who betrayed her.
Story Overview
On the night of the kingdom’s founding anniversary celebration, Elisabeth Reyston, a duke’s daughter who has devoted herself to statecraft as the crown prince’s fiancée, is suddenly and publicly cast aside — the prince has fallen for another woman. Worse, she is framed for crimes she did not commit and thrown into the palace dungeon. Abandoned by both the king and her own father, the prime minister, Elisabeth seizes the sacred divine artifact 【Grimoire Sevenths】 and resolves to flee to the neighboring Youtia Empire with the help of Viscount Lucas Lebrick. There she starts a new life running a trading company — all while quietly nursing a burning desire for vengeance against every person who betrayed her. The series follows this genius lady as she wields connections, economic power, and military force to exact her revenge.
Episode 1 Synopsis: “A Vow of Despair and Revenge”
Elisabeth has long served the crown prince faithfully, managing state affairs and caring for the people. But on the night of the founding anniversary, she is falsely accused, her engagement is annulled on the spot, and she is condemned to the underground dungeon. With the king and her father both turning their backs on her, she takes the 【Grimoire Sevenths】 in hand and declares:
“Everyone in my homeland who betrayed me — are you prepared for what comes next?”
She then sets out to defect to the Youtia Empire.
