A brand-new merchandise collection for the original anime film Cho Kaguya-hime! (超かぐや姫！) has gone on sale, spotlighting specially drawn (描き下ろし) illustrations of the three main characters — Kaguya, Sakiyori Saiba (酒寄彩葉), and Tsukimi Yachiyo (月見ヤチヨ) — dressed in their striking ending live-performance costumes.
About Cho Kaguya-hime!
Cho Kaguya-hime! is an original anime film billed as a “music animation project.” It marks the feature-length directorial debut of Seigo Yamashita (山下清悟), the animation director behind the opening sequences of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, Chainsaw Man, and Urusei Yatsura. The film’s soundtrack features contributions from a stellar roster of Vocaloid Producers: ryo (supercell), kz (livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot.
The story unfolds across live-performance stages in a dream-like virtual world called “Tsukuyomi (ツクヨミ)”, depicting the bonds formed between girls through song. Yamashita’s signature blend of emotionally resonant visuals and dynamic 3D camerawork brings the action to life with impressive quality.
Animation production is a collaboration between Studio Colorido — known for Penguin Highway and A Whisker Away — and Studio Chromato, a new studio led by Yamashita himself, for whom this is the studio’s very first project.
