Synopsis

Set in a kingdom inspired by historical China, five clans each put forward a maiden to compete for the title of empress. Kou Reirin, the delicate and beautiful “butterfly” of the imperial court, seems destined to wed the crown prince — until Shu Keigetsu, the so-called “court rat,” causes a scene at the Lantern Festival and Reirin wakes up imprisoned in the dungeons. Body-swapped by her rival to steal her place at court, Reirin’s situation looks grim to everyone around her — but not to Reirin herself. Armed with a sturdier new body, not even the threat of execution can slow her down.
