The official website for the second television anime season of Wistoria: Wand and Sword (Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria), based on the manga by Fujino Ōmori and Toshi Aoi, announced via a teaser on Sunday that a third season has been greenlit for production.
Character designer Sayaka Ono drew a special celebratory illustration to mark the occasion.
Season 2 Staff
For the second season, first-season director Tatsuya Yoshihara stepped up to the role of General Director, while Hideaki Nakano — known for Saiyuki Reload Blast and Servamp — took over as director. Production studios Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures returned from the first season. Sayaka Ono reprised her roles as character designer and chief animation director, and composer Yūki Hayashi also returned to score the series.
Mai Nakahara joined the cast for Season 2, voicing high mage Clairie Serah.
Story
From the author of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, the series follows Will Serfort, who enrolls at Regarden Magic Academy to fulfill a promise made to his childhood friend, aiming to reach the pinnacle of the magical world — despite having no ability to use magic whatsoever. His seemingly ordinary sword may hold the key to unlocking his true potential.
Ōmori and Aoi launched the manga in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in December 2020. Kodansha published the 15th compiled volume on April 9, while Kodansha USA Publishing released the English 12th volume on March 31. The manga’s “Terminalia Arc” and its first part concluded in May 2023, followed by an epilogue chapter in June of that year.
Season 1 Recap
The first anime season premiered on TBS and 27 affiliated channels in July 2024. Crunchyroll streamed the series simulcast in Japan and also provided an English dub. The fourth episode was delayed by one week and aired in August 2024.
