The staff behind Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance — the anime celebrating the franchise’s 20th anniversary — unveiled the project’s second promotional video, an updated main visual, and a new cast member on Sunday.
The new PV showcases the opening theme song “CRIMSON BULLET,” performed by Nana Mizuki, who voices Fate T. Harlaown in the series.
New Cast Member
Sumire Uesaka joins the cast as Mana Shinomiya, a demon (majin) who operates from the shadows in pursuit of power.
Story
On a remote island belonging to the far-eastern island nation of Mizuho lives Shiina Kuze, a hunter tasked with eradicating invasive species on the island. All she wants is to live a peaceful life with her younger sister, Setsuna.

Staff
Franchise co-creator Masaki Tsuzuki is credited as original story creator and scriptwriter. Takayuki Hamana, who previously directed Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Reflection and Detonation, returns to the director’s chair at studio Seven Arcs. Issei Aragaki (Detonation, Extreme Hearts, Vladlove) serves as character designer and chief animation director, while Shūichi Kawakami is credited for the original character designs.
Premiere Date & Related Projects
The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX and BS11 on July 4 at 25:00 JST (effectively 1:00 a.m. on July 5) with a special hour-long broadcast.
Alongside the new anime, the manga Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS launched on Kodansha’s Suiyōbi no Sirius service in April 2025, with Masaki Tsuzuki providing the original story concept and Shūichi Kawakami on art. The 20th anniversary slate also includes Lyrical Selection (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha 20th Anniversary Selection), a TV-edit compilation of The MOVIE 1st and the Movie 2nd A’s, which began airing in October 2024.
Franchise Background
Masaki Tsuzuki, director Akiyuki Simbo, and Seven Arcs launched the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise in 2004 with a 13-episode TV anime. Four more TV series followed, concluding with Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid in 2015 and the spinoff ViVid Strike! in 2016. Two theatrical films adapted the first two TV series in 2010 and 2012, followed by Reflection (2017) and Detonation (2018). Discotek Media released both later films on Blu-ray in August and September 2023.
