The manga The Dangers in My Heart is heading into its final stretch, with the Manga Cross website confirming that only three chapters remain. This aligns with an earlier announcement that the series would conclude with its 14th compiled volume.
Background
Creator Sakurai launched the manga in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in March 2018, before moving it to Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross website the following month. When Champion Cross merged with the publisher’s Champion Tap! site to form the new Manga Cross platform in July 2018, the series moved there as well.
Akita Shoten released the 13th compiled volume on January 8, while Seven Seas Entertainment — which holds the international license — published the 12th English-language volume on February 24.
Story
Seven Seas Entertainment describes the manga as follows: Ichikawa Kyotaro, a boy barely clinging to the bottom rung of his school’s social ladder, secretly believes he’s the tortured lead in some psychological thriller. He spends his days dreaming up ways to disrupt his classmates’ peaceful lives and pining after Anna Yamada, the class idol. But Kyotaro’s not nearly the troubled teen he pretends to be — and it turns out Anna’s a bit odd herself.
Anime and Other Media
The manga inspired a TV anime that debuted in the “NUMAnimation” block on TV Asahi and its affiliates in April 2023. HIDIVE streamed the series simulcast, while Netflix carried it in many countries outside the U.S. and Canada. A second season followed in Japan in January 2024, with HIDIVE streaming both a subtitled and English-dubbed version.
A compilation film, The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie, opened in Japan on February 13. HIDIVE screened it in the U.S. on February 16 with English subtitles and February 18 with an English dub. The film has sold over 170,000 tickets worldwide, with screenings held in the United States, Latin America, France, Germany, Italy, and parts of Asia. A third anime season has been confirmed for 2027.

- A light novel adaptation written by Kota Nozomi (When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace), with illustrations by Sakurai and sune, shipped in Japan in September 2024.
- The Twi-Yaba spinoff manga received its own anime adaptation, which premiered in December 2023.
- Haika Nanasaka launched a new spinoff manga titled Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai (The Dangers in My Heart: A Romantic Comedy Will Not Start) on the Champion Cross website in July 2025.
